The following starter projects can all be built with the multipurpose FastTrack pcb. Each project is provided with an assembly guide following the systems approach. This provides details of the components, circuit diagram, block diagram and real-world schematic. The guides can all be viewed after downloading the FREE FastTrack Project Guides and Activities at the bottom of the page.

FREE FastTrack Introductory Project 0: An Introduction to FastTrack PCB Systems and Projects.

This is a FREE focused project; introducing the systems approach and Process transistor as a current amplifier or “switch”.

This project provides a great introduction to the multipurpose FastTrack pcb and system “inputs, processes and outputs”. It is supplied to schools at no charge with the FREE 30 day trial of TRACKS Interactive. Click HERE for details.

FastTrack Starter Projects 1, 2 and 3 Pack:

FastTrack Project 1: Protecting from Theft or Intrusion.

A focused project introducing the “latching” thyristor, membrane panel switch, “pull-down” resistor, led protection resistor and led.

There are many ways to monitor or sense something. This system detects and lets you know if something or somebody has pressed down on a hidden pressure switch. The circuit retains this information once triggered (so you can be informed about this after the event).

FastTrack Project 2: Caring for Something or Someone.

A focused project introducing the potential divider – moisture sensor, preset variable resistor and Darlington Pair transistor.

When we are looking after something or someone, it is useful to be able to automatically monitor conditions or the environment. This control system detects the level of moisture, or the presence of water. (A handy device if you’ve just hung the washing out and it’s about to rain!).

FastTrack Starter Project 3: Improving Coordination and Skills through Games.

A focused project introducing the capacitor/ electrical charge and RC networks.

There are many games of skill. This is a variation on the popular hand-steady game. By including a capacitor in the circuit; once players touch the wire, the led will more-clearly indicate the error or “game-up” alert.
